BEAUMONT HOUSE
OLD BOYS'ASSOCIATION
Name
The association shall be known as the Beaumont House Old Boys'
Association.
Objects
To provide opportunities for former pupils of Beaumont House
Preparatory School to meet, exchange reminiscences, and to keep alive
memories of the school.
Constitution
The Association shall be a members' club open to all former pupils of
the school. Honorary membership may be granted to former teaching
staff, their widows and widowers, and other employees of the
school. Mr and Mrs Vezey's three daughters shall also be offered
honorary membership.
Administration of the Association shall be conducted by a small
executive committee, the total elected membership of which shall
not exceed six in number, including the chairman, vice chairman,
secretary and treasurer who shall be ex-officio members.
Elections for the officers and ordinary members of the committee shall
be held annually; it is intended that the committee shall be
representative of each decade from 1940 to 1970. Thus one
ordinary
member shall be drawn from those former pupils whose starting year at
the school was before 1949, one from those between 1950 and 1959, and
one from 1960 until the school's closure. The committee shall
have
the right to co-opt up to three further members.
Membership
subscription
A small subscription will be charged to cover administrative expenses
(postage, distribution of newsletters, travelling costs to committee
meetings etc). Any surplus will be applied to reduce the cost of
Association events, as determined in their absolute discretion by the
executive committee. It is proposed that the initial membership
fee shall be £10 per annum.
Events
organisation
The executive committee may from time to time appoint ad hoc
sub-committees to perform specific organisational tasks. They
shall be empowered to co-opt additional members on to these
subcommittees, as they see fit. It is envisaged that a 2005
Centenary Sub-committee be appointed immediately, to plan, organise and
administer the events proposed to celebrate the centenary of the
school's foundation in 1905.
Approval of
constitution
This constitution shall be proposed for ratification at the first
general meeting of the Association, which shall be held in London
during
the course of 2003. Its ratification, and any subsequent
amendment, shall require the consent of no fewer than two thirds of the
members present and voting at a general meeting.
